Description

The Ohio State University Stormwater Management Program focuses on the impact of urbanization and development on water resources at the site and watershed scale in the face of a changing climate. Our research spans a variety of water resources problems, including urban stormwater, agricultural runoff, acid mine drainage, and construction site runoff. We take a holistic approach to quantify the effects of human development on receiving waters and ways to mitigate these impacts using natural treatment mechanisms such as green stormwater infrastructure. We seek a dedicated MS or PhD student who will conduct and manage field-scale research of sediment traps, basins, and associated retrofit measures to improve sediment removal on transportation construction sites across Ohio and around the country. Additional research opportunities related to laboratory testing and modeling of construction sediment treatment technologies are available at the discretion of the successful candidate. This fully-funded project will allow the successful candidate to collaborate with consulting engineers and the funder to hone solutions to construction site runoff.
